Chapter 9 Review Questions

2. Why is it hard to determine how big the Internet is today? Give several reasons. 
The Internet is constantly expanding and there is no concept of an Internet Central that keeps track of activities. Because there are different kinds of connections to the Internet there are different degrees of interactivity and hard to know what is a partto the Internet.
3. Why are TCP/ IP protocols so important to the function of the Internet ? What do they do? 
TCP and IP are networking protocols vital to the functionality of the internet. The internet is based on these protocols.
4. How does the type of Internet connection influence the things you can do with the Internet? 
 The type of connection a user has depends on the connectivity experience they with receive. Some users will not have the same experience as users with a different connections.
6. What do email addresses and URLs have in common?
E-mail addresses and URLs are both based on IP addresses, and both direct the user to the appropriate page. Both use the domain name system for naming the hosts hosting the links.
